Pastels, pastels and more pastels...

Hi everyone!

Sorry for not writing last week-end, but it was a busy one...Easter break might be over, but pastels are here to stay and that makes me happy, because they are easy to integrate into any wardrobe.  They will give softness and femininity to an edgy look and pair well with navy, charcoal and black - colors that are generally associated with a classic look.  I have included a few pictures for some inspiration :

My personal favorite is hot pink and navy...It can be simple as in the image above or it can be layered with polka dots or stripes for a more fun, yet classic look.  Also notice how the first two images add an element of neutral into the mix.  The first one with the leopard shoes (yes, leopard print is now considered a neutral) and with the tan bag in the second image.  Still not sure you can pull it off?  Simply integrate the trend by painting your nails in pastel colors...

Colored denim and Marie Saint-Pierre for Reitmans

So you keep seing colored denim in magazines and in stores, and would like to try it, but are afraid to?  One way to introduce them into your wardrobe is to pair them with soft colors and classic pieces.  Pictured is an example of the look.

So for those of you who like or would like to support Quebec designers but have nightmares about the price tags, Reitmans has come to your rescue. They are once again teaming up with Marie Saint-Pierre for an exclusive collection. In total there will be 9 dresses and 1 jumpsuit which will range in price between 85$ and 120$. You will find pieces in black, cherry and nude amongst others. The collection will hit stores on Thursday April 26. Be sure to get there early, because the collection sold like hot cakes last November.

Classic look on a cloudy day and 5th avenue shopping

Today is a cloudy day and I felt like a classic look was in order...so here is my look :

Total cost of outfit: 54.50$  What do you think?

The key with shopping in places like Zeller's, Wal Mart and goodwill is to go for pieces that are shaped well.  You have to be picky and you can't always expect to find what you are looking for.  Going often, especially in the case of your local goodwill store, will help you...they receive new things everyday and good pieces go quickly. Also, always keep an open mind. Something that might look odd on a hanger might end up looking fabulous on you!  And if you are hesitant to buy clothes in these stores, just tell yourself that no one has to know and you will just end up having more money to spend on something else...

So the belt I am wearing is Joe Fresh.  This is one of my favorite sotres.  I get my Joe Fresh at Maxi et Cie, but if you are reluctant to get your clothes in a grocery store, they also have many stand alone stores.  And if you need a little more convincing, do know that they just opened a Flagship store on 5th Ave. in New York...feeling better are you?

Sample sale in Montreal and Québec city

Take that cold weather!

Day 1 or' 'I finally did it!''

So here it is, my new blog!  I have been wanting to blog for a few years now and never got around to it.  I am a stay-at-home mom of 2 and since my youngest is starting school in the fall, I thought that now is the perfect time to get to it.  I have also been debating for a while on what it should be about, and last night it dawned on me that it should be about my love of - and I think talent for - finding amazing deals on clothes!  I think I also want to debunk the soccer mom myth, and show the world that just because you are a soccer mom, you don't have to look like one, and you certainly don't need to look like a ''Real Housewife'' either!!!  So here it is, day 1...

Last week I went shopping at my local Goodwill store and found these two gems :

The purse is Whiting and Davis.  Similar styles range from 125$ to 250$ USD on their website (www.whitinganddavis.com).  I paid 2$ CDN for it!






The scarf is Chanel...real or fake I have no idea.  Found same one in this color and 3 other colors on ebay (from top rated sellers, for what that's worth).  Pre-owned they ranged from 70$ to 125$...I paid 0.50$...that's right! you heard me! fifty cents!!!!!









What will I find next...now let's go shopping!
